Brenda Layman is an outdoor writer who lives in Pickerington, Ohio, with her husband, Mark, and tabby cat, Comet. She was born in Ashland, Kentucky, then moved to Ohio to attend The Ohio State University. After graduating from OSU in 1980, she went on to teach in both public and private schools in the United States and abroad. When she is not fishing, kayaking, or hiking through the woods, Brenda is writing for Suite 101, http://www.suite101.com/ an international online magazine with a readership of over 8 million worldwide. She is also a regular contributor to Ohio Valley Outdoors, a print magazine which covers outdoor sports and events in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Northern West Virginia. More of her articles have appeared in newspapers, community magazines, and online. She is an active member of the Outdoor Writers of Ohio. Brenda is also the author of Song of Joy, a Guide to Recovery from Sorrow, which she wrote following her daughter’s untimely death. She is an experienced public speaker. In 2011, Brenda and her husband Mark started Select Authors, a website for the development, promotion, and sale of works by emerging authors.
